Punctuation bar stays up after exiting text

I just recently made the switch to the D3 about a week ago. I'm coming from a Dare that I had for about 3 years, so this is definitely a learning experience for me (loving it also). I've noticed on my D3 as well as my brothers that when we are texting you get the little thin punctuation bar across the the bottom of the screen. This is fine, but somewhat useless in open keyboard mode.

My problem is when I close my text the bar remains on the bottom of the screen. It does this even if the text is still opening and opening and MMS. The solution is simple. You have to either A) hit the back key before you close out any text B) close the keyboard (which I keep out 90% of the time) or B) open the text back up, close out the bar, then exit text (if you forgot it the first time). It's really not that big of a deal, more of a nuisance. Anyone happen to know a quick fit to this? A disable function to the punctuation bar would be great.
