Qik / Video Orientation

I was playing around with Qik, and it seems that whatever the orientation of the phone when you start recording, if you leave it that way, your video will record correctly. I don't think this was the case with my Droid OG. If you didn't hold the phone horizontal (or landscape, I guess), the video would be turned sideways. Now, with the Bionic, you can record Qik videos holding the phone vertically.

But if I just record a video with the phone NOT using Qik, the phone still must be held horizontally.

Is there an app to correct this? Am I doing something wrong?
