Question about htc eris with rooting and flash.

I just got a htc eris on ebay. This phone is tempory till I can upgrade. I know this is an older phone but since it doesnt have a warranty I wanted to try and root and flash it is it worth it? and what is the best os to operate it and where can i find on how to remove programms I know i wont use. Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks

How familiar are you with root? Ifnjit then check out my sig.

Rooting an older phone before your upgrade is a good start. You just have to make sure that the files are up to date as possible as that's a 2yr old phone you got.
