Question about installing to SD card.

hi i just got the driod eris and it is saying that my storage is low. i have 17 mb left already and i have the 8 gb card in it,and i just cant figure out how to take all the stuff on the phone and place it onto the card. can anybody tell me how to do this? thanks.

It cannot be done for any version of the Android O/S prior to 2.2.
