Question About Last Year's Speaker Problem

I am thinking about upgrading from my feature phone to a smartphone and the RMHD is my number one choice. (Going prepay with an LG Nexus 4 is my second choice.) I've been reading about speaker problems with the Razr Maxx and Razr HD, but have not found anything about an intermittent speaker problem on the RMHD. Has Motorola fixed the problem or is it to early to know yet? I don't want to end up with a phone that I can't hear ring but, I'm not exactly crazy about a glass backed phone either, even if it does run pure Android. Just want to get the "right" Android phone for me and looking for some input from the RMHD community.

No problems here. Plus, Nexus is not 4G, small battery... No big deal.
Overhyped to the max. Want pure Android, root the MAXX HD.
