question about picture messaging, please help!

So I like a lot of old pictures I took on my previous cell phone, so I decided to just send the pictures in a text from my old phone to my new eris to save the pictures, but it won't let me save the pictures, i can just view them. So is there any way that I can save them to my eris?

I would have just drug all the pics to a computer, then drag 'em all on to the droid.
Which is another way of saying I don't know why you can't save them, but I still would have done it the other way.
