There's a lot of talk about the Samsung Galaxy S2 being only 3g. This brings up the question: Which is better a dual-core 3G or a single core 4G? Which would be faster down loading a song? Faster playing a game or reading a book to read?

Things that are highly dependent on the network, will work better on the faster network. Things that are dependent on the phone, are going to benefit more from better specs.
Downloading a song via 4G is going to be faster than any device over 3G, regardless of the specs of the 3G device. Although if you put them both on wifi, they both should be comparable. Both on wifi for web browsing, the device with the faster specs will probably render that page a bit quicker.
Gaming becomes dependent of specs of the device, so RAM and processor speed become important. Some of the multi-player games may be better over 4G.
Reading a book shouldn't matter either way. Book downloads are pretty small, and flipping through pages shouldn't be overly taxing on the phone. This you may want a bigger screen for, especially if your eyesight isn't 100%.
Better is always highly subjective (keep that in mind any time you use the word or any other subjective words) and 4G vs dual core is no different. Is processing speed more important to you than carrier data speed? We can't answer that question for you.
Just keep in mind that dual cores do not improve processing in all cases. The software has to be able to take advantage of the dual cores. It's not so straightforward as dual core > single core.
Better is definitely subjective. For me I could care less about 4g. I don't download videos much or stream music much on the phone. I browse websites and use apps on my phone to help with my business, mileage, invoicing, etc. So 3g for me is fine. Faster CPUs for me is the better draw. So I love my X2 as it is best for that kind of use. If your a video junkie then you'll want a 4G phone. But you take a hit in battery life and there are no duel core 4g units yet.
what everyone has said is true, but i think one important thing is being overlooked, and that is OS updates. ICS is supposedly coming very quickly, and is rumored to be the OS for the Nexus Prime out of the box. but, single core phones most likely won't be able to run ICS, or subsequent updates. for me, that makes it a no brainer - dual core 3g.
Most people say they dont need certain features the truth is they never used those features i guarantee if you get 4G lte you will never look back same goes with dualcore
the extra processing speed is not being used now but in the near future there will be games and apps that utilize it.Get the whole package dual core and 4g it will future proof
your phone wants and needs.
