Question: Verizon-sponsored scam text messages ?

I received a scam text message at about 3 am today (Sat, 11/17/12), from '6127509884', which would be Minnesota. Several others received the same exact message, same 'originating' phone number. This has happened before, with widespread contact of Vz customers.

I can't help but wonder: how much does Vz rake in by charging its HUGE customer base for 'receiving' these scams? And where do they 'really' originate?

I highly doubt that Verizon is responsible for, or even approves, these messages... most likely these are from some type of marketing company or even a scammer and are generated by a computer and sent to a list or range of numbers. It makes no sense that Verizon would support or approve this, there is no benefit and nothing but a negative to them in both a business and technological standpoint.

You can have VZW block premium texts that try to hook one into hidden fees. Why they allow these to start with is troubling. Chris
