I have an unlimited data plan with VZW and am thinking of switching to ATT and joining a family plan and taking over someone else's unlimited data plan, though ATT caps it at 5GB and then throttles the speed down. Using 3G I have never gone above 1.5GB and that includes web surfing, emails, and streaming Pandora. However, I'm going to get a 4G LTE phone and anticipate using much more data.

1. What are you guys doing to get into the 5GB range? What types of daily activities are you doing with your phones to do this? Are you using your phones at home without WiFi?

2. I'm trying to think ahead to things I might do in the future with faster service like using HD video chat more and maybe setting up a web cam at my house to watching streaming video of my kid when I'm not home. Are there other 4G web apps or things that might take a considerable amount of more data?

Thanks!!!!

I never use wifi lol. Why should I as I have unlimited. Only time I do is if I download an app that requires it. I use my phone all day, news, tapatalk, YouTube, games and anything else.

I used 26 gigs of data last month on my unlimited plan, all with 3G. I'm allready on 7gigs for this month. I work offshore in the gulf of mexico, but still close enough for cell signal. Mobile hot spot is my only source of internet so it can rack up bandwidth pretty fast. I stream spotify all day, Netflix allot, and some torrenting here and there. Hopefully I'm not throwing any flags on my account! :p

I would never give up my unlimited especially for att. You will regret not having it when you are streaming HD stuff and go over or tether and go over I use about 20 GB a month between my gnex and my nexus 7

I use around 5G or more per month. I have unlimited.
I do not tether.
I only use WiFi at home if I need to connect between my phone and PC or printer (and I toggle it on/off manually or let tasker do it depending on the app or activity). I did use WiFi at home with the D2 on 3G but with 4G I get up to 2x download speeds and up to 10x upload speeds. The upload speeds are important since I use dropbox and google drive -- especially for the nightly full backup I do of my phone to dropbox. I could probably do with a good bit less if I did less frequent backups and only backed up essentials. I don't do much with my phone with media but I do have a good amount of data on the phone, web browsing, forums, and a decent amount of email.
