Bad app pushing spam/phishing. Black list number and try to figure out the app pushing it. Latest added apps would be a heck of a start.

It's a known problem and I don't think it's related to an app. See below;

As much as I love technology and how easy it makes things, I hate it because spammers have access to it.

Call verizon to verify that it not a premium text (as in charging your account per text). Don't wait til you get your bill. The link Foxkat so kindly supplied made no reference of being a premium text. Better safe than sorry.

I have unlimited txt. I'm not sure what a premium txt is

A premium text is when the sender charges your account. It shows up on your bill as a premium text. Their rates are different. I had one that charged 9.99 a month. Verizon can stop future charges but reimbursement of old charges are futile. VZW cannot stop the texts but can stop future charges.

I got a few back in the summer. I just black listed them as they came in. Haven't gotten one since around August.
You might have to use an alternate text app, such as Handcent, to break that thread up into individual numbers to black list.
