Random Texts?

metar

New Member
Ive recently started getting random texts from 12-digit numbers that start with 676 801 679 63X (the x will change with each text). it comes in almost a e-mail format such as this:

Jenny Peterson:
<1/1>

www.tablethealthmedicationsite.net
<reply with r (your message) to respond>

They come from people i know personally, but the number is always the 676 801 679 63X. im thinking maybe its something to do with hotmail? but my hotmail isnt linked in any way to my droid X or gmail account. Ive tried all day to find anything similar with no luck so i figured id register and ask for myself. I did find one post but the only replies to it were to go into the windows live account and unsubscribe to something. I no longer have a windows live account, only my hotmail.

Known numbers thus far:
676 801 679 635
676 801 679 636
676 801 679 637
676 801 679 638

Sounds like some sort of spam to me, although I am not sure maybe someone else will have a better idea.

you say they are coming from people you know? is this Google Voice has changed how things work. Each indiv gets their own number ... Is this part of that?

I don't know.....

edit
I just tested my GV and no. it doesn't do that on txts..

well not intentionally someone i know but where it says the name it will have the named of someone i know instead of someone random (possibly like something got hacked and is using their names). i decided to delete my hotmail hoping that fixes it (since i never use it now anyway). if anyone can think of anything else please let me hear it. if not im taking it to verizon.
