RAZR HD won't read SIM

I'll make it short and sweet. Bought a Razr HD for a great price and it won't read a working SIM from a Droid 4 or a new SIM from the Verizon store. Seller swears it was working for them. Any ideas on what I can do or am I out $200? Appreciate anyone with good advice. Haven't tried factory reset or anything, but have reinserted and taken out several times and also ensuring that I completely power off phone prior to inserting. SIM works fine in the Droid 4 and neither that one or new one from Verizon store were recognized???

Stupid question but are you sure the card is in all the way? Do you hear and feel the click when inserting it?

Next I would try the factory reset but if that doesn't work, then I'd get a refund..
