Razr Maxx Bad Battery

So I just got a replacement Maxx 3 days ago and the battery life is even worse than the last one. I have tried disabling apps that I don't use, it is at half brightness and it is down to 20 percent. It has only been going for 7 hours. And also it says that my display usage is 73 percent..... that's outrageous... and I don't know why... please help!

Have you looked into your settings to see what apps running? Did you download the same apps to your new phone? You may have an app misbehaving.

You can do the safe mode thing or download a tracking app to see what's eating your phone. I use watchdog.

That would be at least a place to start.

PS...is battery calibrated? 73% display is typical

I don't think all batteries perform the same. I recently had a similar issue. My 1st Maxx had an amazing battery but a blown speaker so got it replaced. 2nd Maxx worked fine but the battery was weak. Both phones were used the same way with the same apps. Started following the battery help threads and tried all the tricks, but nothing made a difference. Finally went to Verizon and complained saying this 2nd one must have a bad battery. The rep reluctantly ordered me a 3rd one and it's been awesome! Even better than my 1st one! I'm not a heavy user and generally power it off at night and I just went 4 days on a charge. I couldn't believe it! That 2nd one would go a day & half at most. I'm glad I went in to complain!

I personally believe that the battery in the maxx is a lie. I'm on my third maxx now and same as with the previous 2 the battery last maybe 8hrs, if that. My brightness is all the way down, not too many apps running all the time, stopped going on YouTube and stuff like that. I only use my phone for texting and calling now because of this. I would never recommend this phone to anyone.

Do you have juice defender?... I was experiencing close to the same as you speak of until
i got juice defender ultimate... if you want a link to get it, send me a PM

You need to be using juice defender or smart actions, and the screen should be using up most of your battery. Either that or standby or the OS.

Try posting a screen shot of the battery info.. that would help.

My batter was great until the latest icecream update. Since then my batter is almost dead by the end of the work day. Before, I still had a charge when i went to bed at night.

I use my phone alot some days, but my husband does not. He also has the same problem. we have tried smart actions but it did not make a difference.

I also got a replacement Razr Maxx for a bad speaker and the battery is great. I use my phone for calls, texting, email, FB and Slingplayer. An average charge lasts me 35 hours. I once hit 41 hours with 20% left so the Maxx battery doesn't suck (see attached pic)

The one thing I noticed that drained my battery was when I went to Vegas for 4 days. During that time, the screen became hot to the touch and the battery lasted about 8 hours. My guess is the hot weather, static electricity, all the electronics in the casino, and my phone trying to connect to a stable cell signal all contributed to poor battery life. The same thing happened when I went to Reno the following weekend for the day. Maybe you have some of these conditions where you are?

I use GSam Battery monitor (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5nc2FtbGFicy5iYm0iXQ..) to view my battery's performance.

I think it's because you're still at 100% juice ;).So the little bit of time the screen was on virtually accounted for all your drain.

I agree. This has been discussed before. Say you had the same results for battery usage and the battery said it was at 90%. Then you have used 10% of your battery and the screen accounted for 87% of that. That would mean your screen had used 8.7% of your total power. Unless you are running background apps that are processor hungry or talking a lot with the screen off, the screen will show a lot of your usage. I just pulled mine off the charger, and screen showed 88%. checked it 2 minutes later and showed 80%, Kaspersky had jumped up in usage since it was running in the background. A more true test would be to look at it after the battery has discharged to 50% or less and then think about how you have used the phone during the discharge period. I would not get too hung up on the screen usage as it is always the greatest drain on my phone and I get great battery life, and that is with a Razr(no maxx). Most people report 4G on in non 4G areas and WIFI on with no WIFI as two of the greatest drains. Also taking their phone off the default "Global" setting helps battery life.
