Reading Text on RAZR?

Hi everyone,

Just got home from the Verizon store and got some hands on time on the new RAZR. I'm due for an upgrade in about a month and wanted to check it out ahead or time. Overall, I really like the phone but the one thing that really stood out to me was the quality of black text on the screen. When trying to read text it appeared to me to be very fuzzy. I do not notice this at all on my X and personally think the X resolution looks much better in regards to text. One thing I did find was that as you zoom in more on the RAZR text does become more clear. Has anyone else noticed this with the phone? Is it just due to it being a different type of screen?

I'm hoping the Galaxy Nexus will be released soon too so I can compare. I don't want to make a decision until I've had time to play with both phones. Overall the RAZR is great, I was just not crazy about the look of the screen.

Interesting. I've had one a few hours now with no problems on the text. Looks quite sharp. I even went back to look after reading your post and just don't see any blur.

That is interesting, at first I thought it was maybe just a bad phone but I looked at a second one and noticed the same thing.

Anyone else noticed this or am I just crazy?

The weird thing is I don't see fuzzy text of my X so I don't think it's my eyes.

I think this is what the OP is seeing... and it's legitimate - but some people notice and some don't:

HERE (under Display) , and even moreso HERE

Its because X's screen is better for text since its not pentile and RAZR's screen is pentile. Even though the Galaxy Nexus's screen is also pentile it shouldn't have this problem because the PPI is so high. I haven't seen a RAZR yet but I noticed it instantly on the bionic.

and the difference between the bionic and razr is a white pixel, so the bionic's looks brighter (and is) in some scenarios

Thanks for the link. That's exactly what I was seeing. I guess I'm just one of the unlucky ones who sees it and it bugs me.

When I played with it at the store I saw no green but the screen was too dim.

When I pushed the brightness up it looked fantastic.

if you dont see the blue/grey then you're lying to yourself.
it's inherant in the panel they're using.. it's not something that will magically go away.

I never saw the grid in the Bionics Pentile display either. Maybe I'm too old or my vision is not as good as yours.

I found the screen dim when it was on auto brightness. I didn't feel I could read websites. When I turned it up it looked great.

I'm going to decide between the RAZR and the Galaxy Nexus.

It's hard to decide when they aren't giving much info on the Galaxy... impatiently waiting.

Given the recent issues I'm having with the Bionic I may be swayed to the Nexus. Depends on how the reviews are.

Also need more reviews of the RAZR.
