Receiving Duplicate SMS/Text Msgs

Hi...

So ever since the update, I have been receiving duplicate text messages. Has anyone encountered that problem? I use the Handcent app. and I'm not sure if it's the phone or the app itself.

If someone sends me "What's up?" I'll receive the duplicate message in my inbox 2 or 3 more times. I won't kill me but it's starting to annoy me because the notification bar also displays 2 messages instead of one.

Any light on the subject will be helpful....thanks.

Bump... I am having the same issue, i use handcent also... why can we not find an answer?

Maybe it's an issue with Handcent and the new update? Since both of you are having the same issue.

I get dupes sometimes too. I usually find that both handcent AND messaging are running at the same time. I use advanced task killer to kill messaging and that typically solves the issue. However, I would like to know how to keep messaging from starting up. I don't start it myself, so I don't know why it runs but...it does.

Anyway, let me know if this helps at all.

You can go to your regular text messaging, click on Settings > Message Settings >Then turn Notifications off.

that does not work for me I still have the same duplicate messages even when I uninstall Handcent. It is a Verizon issue.

This is because you have press backup button when google ask you whether you wanted to backup your contacts... To solve this.. Go to "contacts".. Open any contact no that have "g" beside the contact... Go to "linked contacts".. Delete all contacts that have "g" beside it.. After that press backwards button.. You will see many duplicated phone no... Again, delete all contacts which have "g" beside it... I'm afraid you going to do the same thing to all other contacts..
