Receiving email push on Wifi

Today was the first day I was experimenting with Wifi. I turned on the wifi setting this morning and left it on. Didn't get any emails (all accounts IMAP push) all day. Turned off wifi and as soon as the 3G signal came on a got a bunch of emails.

Am I supposed to be able to get emails when using wifi? I am using Maildrod if that makes a difference.

Are you using Yahoo email? I have noticed that for the past few days, my Yahoo email (using stock mail app) has not been getting any push email notifications. As soon as I open the email app, then the email syncs and all the new emails show up.

Yes I am using Yahoo, both paid and unpaid accounts. Today it seems to be working fine. Thanks
