"Reformat" Droid?

Hello, new Droid user here...

My phone has been kind of laggy all of a sudden, and I think it's because I accidentally defragged the SD card >.<

Question is, what's the best way to "reformat" the phone? Back up the SD card and do a factory reset?

So what should I do to essentially start with an app-less phone?

If I just backup the SD card and delete everything, what will happen?

If you recently installed a task killer remove it. Typically, they cause more problems than they solve. Additionally, I would remove any new apps that you may have installed. Begin by reinstalling one of the apps. Run it for a day or two. If all goes well reinstall another until you find the culprit.

Hope this helps.

If you erase everything on the SDcard your phone will be ok. If you suspect it is something on the card, power down, remove the battery, remove the card, replace the battery and power up without the card....if your intent is to just "start over".

If you won't miss anything, this could be the fastest way to just get things back to normal.

Well, what I want is to get everything back to the way it was when I first bought it:

  • no apps installed
  • nothing extra on the SD card that doesn't need to be there
