This was going to be a question until I went through my old posts and found when it happened to me a while ago. Hope this is the right place for just a tip.
Went to the market and clicked on my apps and it showed about 10 apps needing an update. Just thought for some reason the notification that there were updates was not working for a while. Tried to download them and they all failed. I tried again today ...and all failed. Then I remembered asking this before here. Went to options>manage applications>market and cleared the data. Ignore the warning that you will lose all of your data. Went back to the market and there were no updates. So this is not a question, just wanted to save someone the trouble if they had this problem.
