Removing access to GMail messages?

I just switched from my Incredible to the Verizon iPhone 4 but I still have my Incredible (it seems to have turned into a family gaming station, lol). My question is... apparently I can't remove my GMail account from the phone and I'd rather people not have the ability to see my email messages that still get sent to the phone. Is there a way for this to happen? Like a way to block access or prevent GMail from pushing messages to the device?

From the GMail app, I went to "Accounts" from the menu key, then hit "menu" again, then "Account Settings". From there, you can just uncheck auto-sync. BUT you can actually "manage accounts" further from there: click your gmail address, and you'll have two options: Sync Now, or REMOVE ACCOUNT!

(I was scared I'd lose my Gmail Calendar sync if I did this though — my problem is getting TWO freakin email notifications for the same email. real PITA. I'm still searching for answers... but at least I know how you can kill your gmail acct LOL!)

Here's the simple solution: un-sync as stated above, then go to gmail.com on your computer, access your Google Account Settings and change your password. Now device linked to your Google account will ask for password when accessed.
