Retrieve Data From Deat Galaxy S4

I have a Galaxy S4. It stopped working, would not charge or power on. Verizon sent a replacement but I am hoping to find a way to get my pictures off the old phone. I didn't have an sd card so everything was stored on the internal memory. I took the motherboard out of the old phone and put it into the new phone but the new phone would not turn on with the old motherboard. Does anyone know if there is any way to get the data off the old phone or am I pretty much SOL? thanks

SOL is pretty much where you are. In the future, install DropBox and it can sync the ohotos (even restricted to WiFi only) to the cloud. It's isn't necessary to have an SD card to be able to have a backup copy of media and having one is not a guarantee that it will be there forever either.
