Ringtone problem

So for some reason none of the ringtones i have set for people seem to be working, it always plays my default ringtone. i have double checked and i have the ringers set right. this has been happening off and on since i got the phone but since 2.1 it happens more. anyone else have this happen and fix it?

my dad is also having this problem, i and he have noticed that right away when a call comes in the phone isnt recognizing the person calling as a contact. anyone found a fix for this yet?
