Moving into my new-to-me Droid Maxx. I moved my music files from my laptop into the music file on the phone. I see the music through the Google Play Music app, but can't figure out how to get to any to set as a ringtone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm driving myself nuts trying to figure this out

They have to be in either the Notification folder or Ringtone folder. I don't remember the exact name, but I think it's one of those two.

I just looked at my phone and it looks the same. I think for phone ringtones the MP3 file has to be in the Ringtones folder. For other notification sounds, try putting the MP3 file in the Notification folder. You should be able to set those as custom sounds then.

I have used an app named ES File Explorer for a long time and you can move files around your phone with it pretty easily. Connected to a laptop works also, but I do like ES File Explorer, it has a lot of uses and low risk, no crazy permissions.

Do yourself a favor. Download ringdroid. It allows you to pick just the right part if your song to use as a ring tone. So.....if you like a guitar riff that is in the middle of your song you can "cut" that part of the song for your ring tone.

Thanks! I'll do that!
