ROM manager epic fail

Having problems with ROM manager. It wont load up anything in the download roms section. It says
"Error occurred while downloading the ROM list!..."

Sometimes the push update notification for nightly #37 comes up. If i click it fast it sometimes tries to download but then fails. I uninstalled and reinstalled. No help.

-- running cm4dx nightly build #34.. and loving it.

I use rom manager all the time to update CM7, i never have problems. All shows up and downloads just fine.

Make sure you have the Droid X 2nd init selected and you should have no problems, oh and you need a mounted micro sd card.

in my experience, and many others, RM has been inherently unreliable from the get-go for dl'ing and flashing roms. the only thing i ever used it for is to get CWM Recovery (but now i only use RZR), and to fix permissions. dl roms directly to your sdcard from your PC, and then flash them from recovery. that's the only reliable way to flash a rom. if you use RM, be prepared for bugs.

k so youre saying for nightlies updates im suppose to take the SD card out of my phone, plug it to my computer, and then put it onto my SD then install from clockwork mode?

i think not, ive never had a problem with the RM. its quick and easy to install the nightlies updates.

no, that would be pretty unnecessary and silly. all you have to do is mount your phone to your PC, using USB cable, and dl directly to sdcard (or dl to PC and copy to sdcard). lots of people don't have problems with RM. but, if you have spent much time on here, you'll see that there are an equal number, if not more, who have had problems. maybe they've improved RM in recent months - i wouldn't know, cuz i stopped using it long ago when i figured out how much more reliable it was to flash manually thru recovery (and once i started using the faster and much, much more stable RZRecovery, instead of CWM).

I've never had any problems with ROM Manager. When I have my Droid I would look around RM for new ROMs and just try whatever ROMs were on there.

Since installing CM7, I have not been able to successfully mount the SD card as an external drive on my PC. The USB notification pops up, and I click on the button on the form that pops up, but it never seems to work for me.

Thus, I've been forced to d/l stuff to my phone using the phone's browser.

i can't remember how you get to it in CWM - i think it's under "options" or "mount options" or something like that. then you select something along the lines of "mount usb storage" or "enable usb storage"...

I've been able to solve the problem by going in to settings>applications>development and clicking USB debugging off and on.
