ROM Manager Question

I just rooted my phone last night! This morning I put on ROM Manager and was going to change the ROM I was using to Cyanogen but had one question. When I change ROMS, do I have to wipe my data and cache? Or can I just create a backup and skip the wiping?

In my experience (a couple weeks ago I tried a bunch of different ROMs to suit my liking) and I kept being put into the boot screen loop everytime I tried to install a ROM WITHOUT doing a complete wipe.

When I did do a clean wipe I was able to boot into the specific ROMs. Remember make a backup tho because if I hadn't I would have been stuck. especialy if you don't get the google apps installed with the ROM = No marketplace to redownload Rom Manager. LOL

Learned the hard way.

You want to wipe when moving between different ROMs. When upgrading to a new version of the same ROM, you don't need to wipe.
