I believe once you install a custom rom, you will not be able to receive updates. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure how that works.
Which update are you talking about? 4.1.2? Is your bootloader unlocked?
Sorry for the questions, but does your version of CM10 have a custom kernel? A boot.img inside the zip? If so then yes it will still work with CWM or TWRP. If it's a safestrap ROM without the boot.img then probably but im not sure.
Also if it is a SS ROM, even if it has a boot.img you may need to manually mount system in CWM or TWRP before flashing.

Make a backup first, as always. If it goes wrong, just restore. No big deal.
