Root and Rom issues, Contacts; MY HOME BUTTON, SEARCH AND LOCK SCREEN BUTTONS...

So basically I was a noob to all this root process and setting it up. I successfully installed the root file a month or two back and used droid over clock, rom manager (until I realized it's bad), bootstrap, superusers permissions and terminal emulator (most major apps) in sync with rooting. I finally wanted a rom/theme; I went with ape.x. Upon installation I failed to realize I should have saved a recovery file prior to that day and the installation of Fabolous' ROM. Not only that I accidentally overwrote the file I had to this date with a new screwed up file of today's events. It's not necessarily screwed up, I say this because I am frustrated beyond belief with searching these forums and the internet. So I flashed back to that faithful ape.x day then overwrote today's file with that same file. STUPID STUPID. I downloaded z4Root, got some apps, installed ape.x properly but without any save points, I switched back between certain points to check my data. MY HOME KEY, SEARCH KEY AND LOCK BUTTON DO NOT WORK. They light up, they turn the screen on. They do not: go home, lock the screen or search. Seen this problem on a lot of other forums. I WANT ALL MY DAMN DATA....I WANT IT! Maderstcok is supposed to completely format but it did not. He says I have the option in their, I chose not to. Kill me, my mind is so numb from all this. Believe me if I would have taken the opportunity to read EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING if I had known I'd ever be in this damn position. I'm unrooted with a pointless version, with pointless apps and all my goddamn music is gone. I need help 100% need it. This is worse than a brick, it's just a phone to me and honestly wind knocking my papers over is more of an issue than calling anyone, but my countless files, information, settings and data are more important than both the paperweight and the phone option.

That's where I'm at with the maderstcok stock settings, with worthless home, search and lock keys.

WHAT I WANT:
My phone to be back to stock settings with or without root
A couple of guides about rooting and bootstrap working hand in hand
My Hardware buttons to f****** work..
My information and contacts to come back
Also, constructive criticism on ROMS, specifically ones with the longest battery levels, sleekest themes, easiest ui (ADW LauncherPro) and most importantly a rom best compatible with the droid overclock application bought off of the market. I want to do what all you people do, develop, hack and create. I'm itching to code, to create software/apps and themes people talk about on here. I want to be a part of all this so bad.

I'm going outside to smoke some pot and ponder about how much better it would be with music, oh and also about what I'm going to do with my phone..

Wow! Take a breath and try to relax...seriously, its just a phone afterall...

1) What Lock Button? There isnt one on the Droid X...Menu, Home, Back and Search on the vottom, Volume Up?Down on the side with the Camera Button, and the Power Button on the Top...those are the only buttons on the device.

2) Sounds like you borked your phone really good...but even so, there should be a fix for it. You already have maderstock, so thats a good thing. I know you have already ran it...but it sounds like you need to run it again...this time, make doubly sure you Wipe Data and Cache repeatedly...maybe 3 times..this way to ensure nothing is left prior to running maderstock...see what that does.

3) If that doesnt work, then you need to go grab a copy of the full SBF file that is floating around and give it a try...start here @ Droid X Forums.

4) Read this thread...Complete Droid X .sbf Flashing Guide, this time though...make sure you completely understand and follow all the steps involved. If you still have an issue, contact maderschramm and see if he can help.

5) Last but not least...once you get back to a fully functioning stock Droid X..root it and install Droid X Bootstrap and do a back-up...and then to be safe, move that back-up to your desktop PC or a laptop. This way, even if your SD card were to become corrupted, you would still have a viable back-up file to use at a later date.

6) As far as ROMs go..thats gonna be a bit tougher. It really depends on whether you want Blur or Blurless. Personally, I like Liberty v1.5 with a small taste of Blur installed, and so far I see no other ROM making its way to my X for the foreseeable future. Great battery life, great support from the Devs, slick speed increases over stock and the toolbox has tons of options to tweak around...

Your right, it is a phone. I just don't have that sort of money laying around, I knew the risks though. So yes maybe I deserve some of this but your right, I have a feeling this will fix it, I just didn't want to have to save all my data on the computer and then reload it back to my droid after it's wiped. So I figured I would come here, I was just very frustrated at the moment. Thank you for YOUR patience. Mine failed bwahah.

just a side note to mabe calm you down some more. your music, if you transfered from you pc or dl from phones internet should still be on you sd card somewhere. plug it into your pc and start searching ive done this twice now where i thought i lost all my music
