Rooted WiFi Tether... HELP!

So I rooted my Fascinate today, in hopes that I could use the wireless tether app that everyone talks about. I dl'ed the app, and it shows it turns on, but my Mac doesnt recognize its on... So then I dl'ed Barnacle and it wouldnt work either. Can someone help me out with this?

Try the latest version from my sig. Make sure the app has superuser permissions. Make sure your mac can handle Ad-Hoc networking. Verify you're broadcasting the SSID properly. Use a WiFi scanner app to verify you're not broadcasting on a clogged channel if you're in a congested area. :)

If you're using it at home and using only one device there's no point in generating the extra heat of using the WiFi tethering, as far as I'm concerned, and the WiFi tethering sucks battery life through a firehose rather than a straw -- the USB tethering will top up your battery while providing internet access.

Yeah I figured it'd be nicer to the battery and I do usually just use it for my personal PC at home, really cool. Seems like all the apps out there are WiFi. Honestly never had a big problem with heat personally, only went over 40ºC once.

Do you have the wired app installed on your Fascinate? Works well? That stuff in the link about kernels...anything for me to worry about? My kernel isn't stock.

Didn't know you could put non-stock kernels on a Fascinate. :)

I'm running a D1, but the 2.2 kernel code has all the stuff you need to run USB or WiFi tethering built in.

The app in my signature is free to use. Verizon will not charge you for its data as it cannot track if the data is going to your PC or staying on the phone. However, make sure you have the unlimited plan. ;)

I'm having a problem with windows 7. My wifi sees and connects to my droid, but it says no internet access. Any thoughts?
