Rooting 101

So I'm looking towards rooting my Thunderbolt soon and I am clueless on what to do. (I'm new to the rooting world, please don't chew me up and spit me out)

There are lots of posts on how to root with very specific instructions. Use the search function and read, reread and read some more. There are videos on YouTube also, if you are a visual learner. Its pretty hard to screw up while rooting, but if you do, there's usually an abundance of people willing to help, just be sure to be specific with your problem if one arises. Good luck and have fun once your rooted

velocity root for lg ally

A friend tried to root my ally with velocity now my phone is continously rebooting..... can I fix this or is it now just a brick?

You can fix it, just look somewhere where lg ally posts are. Re-do the rooting process and you should be fine
