Rooting Droid X??

dez

New Member
I was looking into rooting my Droid X but I want to be cautious, as it is a pretty expensive phone and I really don't want to screw it up so I was looking to you guys for some answers.
1. Whats the most simple way to do it for us people that aren't very tech-savy? Any easy one click programs you recommend?

2. When a new update comes out for the phone will I not beable to update since I've rooted my phone? Or what happens when a new update comes out do you just keep running off of whichever was installed when you rooted your phone?

3. How do you back-up your phone before you root it just incase anything did happen?

If you guys recommend anything else going about the rooting process please throw it in as I would really like to root my phone for the tethering capability and modifications. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to give me all the details :)

1. Use Z4root find it on google. Z4root.apk

2. (A) Use koush bootstrap on the market or developer page to backup phone.
(B) Use Titanium backup to backup apps.

3. When theres an update UN-ROOT using same z4root. Then update fone. Reroot using z4.

See my sig for the Z4Root

As long as you don't freeze or remove bloatware or mess with system files you'll be fine. I suggest once you root to make a backup (see other guide in sig) then you can return back to take an update.

You can't. Rooting can't hurt your phone. It will either work or it won't.

I hope that helps you out :)
