Rooting.

I'm probably what alot of you would call a noob, so im just gonna go ahead and ask whats on my mind about rooting.

Would you recommend it over the standard software?
Is it risky?
Is there a specific "root", or whatever they are called, that is better than others?

I have been thinking about doing it just to see, and I want to make sure i know what i am doing before i do anything.

I personally would as it enables you to do so much more with your phone, visually an performance wise.

With everything there is a potetial risk factor. Rooting is somewhat risky, but not if you read, reread an triple read the process your about to perform just make sure to understand it.

Root is the ability to have access to the ROOT of your phone, or to make you a SUPERUSER. Root is universal its Rom an Kernels that you hear (or see) people talking about.

Good info. Use Z4 or Gingerbreak to root.

Hm, okay. Would you care to point me in the right direction as to what and where to download and how to put it on my phone?

Here is Z4 root. Download and install.

After installation, go to settings>applications>development and turn USB debugging on.

Now, open Z4 Root and select permanent root. It will root, then reboot the phone. That's it.
