ok so i have been trying this rom for a week and i notice that if i let my battery die and recharge the phone try turning it on it goes into clockwork pretty annoying...also when the phone is charging the phone seems to for some reason get real hot and when i check the temp on the cpu it gets to 95f and 105f. just now i try tethering and the phone started to get real hot again 105f, also what is the issue with standby consuming more battery that the display, i notice that kills my battery more than anything else. so any inputs be nice if everything fails ill just try something else...

also when i power the the phone off and turn it on it goes into clockwork also...

Had that problem with Clockwork on Fission 2.1, I uninstalled it using AppMonster and then reinstalled it and everything was fine.

Can't speak on the overheating problem though, I've never experienced anything like that.

Okay let me first address the heat issues... 95-105F is NOT hot for your phone. It can handle much more than that. If it were to get to 125F then you should start worrying. The battery will get hot through normal use and get hotter through extended use. Additionally, the type of case you have makes a difference. Do you have a case at all? Does it allow any breathing? Is it thick, hard, rubber or a thin silicone membrane?

Edit: I have a thick rubber case on mine... it is currently at 36C (97F).

Going into clockwork when your phone dies is, I believe normal. You really shouldn't be letting the battery die all the way though. It's not good for it for that to happen often. Every once in a while is fine.

As for the standby time... it has been stated numerous times throughout the different RubiX variations that it is a graphical glitch and that your phone is not really burning battery in standby. It probably used to report as "display" but now shoes as "cell standby." It's fine and not having any effect on your battery other than normal use.

Let me dissect this and provide comments.

1) Booting in to clockwork after being off for a while is a feature of the ROM. It is actually really helpful if you get stuck at the boot screen or flash the ROM incorrectly. Essentially you can just take the battery out for about 30 seconds, then be able to pop it back in and open clockwork, then flash back to a backup.
2) The phone always gets hot when it charges, especially if the phone is battery side down or being used for some intense application. This is due to the limitation of human electrical systems. Wires give off heat when electricity is running through them. The CPU temp being 95-100f isn't too much to worry about.
3) Tethering causing the phone to be hot. This is because wireless tether is using A LOT of the phone's resources. It is just like how laptops gets hot when you use them a lot.
4) Standby using battery in the battery monitor. This is a known issue with the Droid X, and will be seen on every ROM. Open up Spare Parts and use that battery monitor, it is much more detailed and correct.

Edit: Curses, Inkarnit beat me to it.

lol @ curses at incarnit, well the reason i say this is cause i was not having this problem with the heat and it just started to do this these past 3 days...so thats why i asked cause normal to my with this rom was 87f to 95f but like i said these past 3 days its been differant

LOL teh_g, I didn't even mention the tethering thing, but yeah, that makes a phone extremely hot. I've had my phone up to 125F before, RIGHT below my cooldown threshold. It was achieved while playing Pocket Legends lol

I would look at what has changed over the past 3 days for you. Have you been doing more of something? Did you install an app that might be running in the background, thus causing more cpu usage/heatup? Have you had GPS, wifi, or bluetooth enabled where you didn't previously? Did you get a new case? Have you been in poor signal area?

Is the overclock you have posted in your signature new? The overclock will definitely increase heat.

If not, has the temperature around the phone increased? I know it sounds stupid, but I forget sometimes that a hot room will make for hotter electronics.

no i keep my phone in the freezer, lol i dont know ill just do what u guys say and monitor what im doing im just glad i dont go to those adult websites, and to inka i know what you mean about pocket legends cause i have had it @ 110. well i kept my oc 1.2 while it was doing the battery calibration but i have since lowered it to 1.0...

Mine using same rom no overclocking, drains the bejesus out of battery.

I wouldn't be worried about the heat. It gets hot sometimes. Think of it as a mini-laptop with no internal fans.

dont get me wrong i LOVE THIS ROM, but lil bugs can get a bit annoying lol, ill be ok just have to figure out what apps are causing this

just trying to make sure cause i have fried phones before cause i did not know what was the max temps of the device i had

There is a bug in 1.8.9 that causes severe battery drain. We are all waiting for the new build.

well if im not mistaking if the 1.8.6 is in fact the 1.8.9 unless u really downloaded the 1.8.6 version its one the issue this rom has, that the file name was not changed or something like that...
