I guess Amazon is even more committed to their retail roots and their core business than people might have guessed. According to sources quoted from Techradar, Amazon is negotiating with Google to carry the Nexus 7. Here's a quote,

An Amazon spokesperson told TechRadar: "People higher up in Amazon are talking to Google regarding the Nexus 7."

Is this a case of hedging your bets? It would be truly surprising if Amazon actually stocked their biggest rivals product. Still, if they do it will be good for Android, and they are first and foremost a retailer. It will be interesting to see if this turns out to be true. We will keep an eye on this and get back with you if something is confirmed.

Does that mean that they won't try to compete with a next generation fire??

DROID RAZR MAXXIMIZED!!!! PREPARE TO BE VANQUISHED!!!

It's going to make them both money in the end. Google would be smart to have the NEXUS 7 as publicly available as it can.

I don't think too much about this stuff, because a lot of rival companies do this. Especially when there are a lot of departments within it.

Folks will buy the Nex7. To sell it on Amazon just means that for every one sold via Amazon, Amazon will get a cut of the pie. Not bad.

Yep, if you can't beat em.. join em :)

It's so much that. Every tablet sold is helping amazon build theirs.

So, each iPad, and other tablets only help amazon. Say they sell 1m overall tablets each yr, and get $10 from each. That is a nice chunk for not doing much.
