One of Qualcomm's next generation mobile processors is the Snapdragon 615. It's a true octa-core 64-bit SoC, and is based upon a Cortex-A53 architecture, and will include 4G LTE support. The latest intel suggests that HTC's newest Desire smartphone could be the first device to include this SoC.

We don't have any second-hand corroboration of this news, but we expect to hear something more concrete during the HTC event at IFA in Berlin on September 4th.

We will keep you posted as more details arrive.

I thought the Desire was a mid-tier device, or am I thinking of a different model?

Watch them throw this processor in, and then pair it with a bunch of middling specs like 2 gigs of ram and a 720p display....essentially wasting the consumer's $$$ on a completely underutilized processor.
