[Rumor] VZW Galaxy Nexus On Sale at WalMart for Less Than a Buck! $.97 On Contract

Here's a sweet deal on the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, although we haven't confirmed whether it is a regional thing or not. The above pic was snapped at a WalMart by a Reddit user. As you can see, "Wally-World" is selling the VZW G-Nex for only 97 cents on a new contract. WalMart's online price does not reflect this, which is why we aren't clear if this is something going on in specific regions of the country.

As an added bonus, don't forget that the Verizon G-Nex was just updated to Jelly Bean recently, which makes this deal all the more enticing.

when they can sell a so called $700 phone for .97 you know the plans are way overpriced especially for someone who pay full retail or from an individual and continues to pay same as someone who got it at subsidized price.

I still don't get why the NEXUS is over 700 without contract. The GSM version is only 399

Because Big Red likes to make it look like they are giving you a $700 discount. Supposed to make the $2400 screw job over the next two years feel less painful.

This is just my own speculation but the reason is probably because Verizon is a bit too greedy. Just a thought. ;)

I wish verizon would match these prices. I'd be all over this in a heartbeat. I also wish these verizon retailers would honor early upgrades. Is there a way to get amazon or wal mart to honor my early upgrade I was offered or to get verizon to match prices?

You forgot to add "with a rusted sawblade."

I guess carriers are just like that. Even Sprints GNEX is over $500 without a contact.

I should correct myself though. I got that $700 price from NewEgg, but checking verizon.com it seems like Verizon sells it for around $650.

Still, I cannot WAIT for unlocked LTE phones that will work on Verizon. Just swap the SIM and be good to go.

So the subsidized pricing goes down, but retail stays the same...

I know. I HATE this. Right up until the phone gets discontinued, the "retail" prices never change!
