Safestrap versus bootstrap

Hello. Was wondering if someone could provide some advice. I've been doing research on safe versus bootstrap, but can't really determine which one I need. I'm 902 rooted, bloat and updater frozen, and currently have no plans to update to 905 or flash roms. I'm used to cwm on Droid X, making nandroid's and just sbf'ing if I screw up a flash (very rare). Is it possible to install safestrap, make a nandroid, and just stay on unsafe side or in order to use it do I have to flash a rom on the safe side? Otherwise, can't I just use bootstrap, make nandroid, and if something goes wrong sbf (fxz I thnk it's called) to 902 stock and reroot? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks bama. I've found the Bionic bootstrap and Bionic touch bootstrap apk's. I'll use one of them.
