Samsung Facinate

I was wondering if anyone has played with the Samsung Facinate for verizon and what their opinions were on it?

my buddy just got one and i helped him get all set-up...here r my opinions

just as a side note i have a rooted droid 1 so i may b a lil bias on some of my comments

Pros:
beautiful screen
light weight (exp compared to the d1)
pre-installed swype
galaxy s is on all major networks (this is a pro to me since i believe devs will give this phone plenty of attention because of its availability)

Cons
tons of bloatware (thr r like 3 pages of apps pre-installed in the app drawer)
keyboard (if u dont like swype thr is no multi-touch alternative u r stuck with the stock android keyboard)
samsungs UI (can't remember what its called but just like htc sense and motoblur its just crap that bogs down the phone)

the positive thing about all the cons i listed is that once a vanilla android rom/custom roms are available for this phone they will all go away

I own one, along with a rooted and overclocked Droid. The Droid cannot touch the speed of the fascinate, not even close. The fascinate is by far the best phone I have ever owned. The screen, the feel, the speed, EVERYTHING! I absolutely love it.

I stopped in the local Verizon store over the weekend to check out the X and there next to the X was a Fascinate (S). For the few minutes I messed with it, I was impressed. I was "sold" on the X but now I am not as sure. I might just go with the S. The pre-loaded apps doesn't bother me in the least. I do think I will wait for a while to see what the upcoming updates to the S do.

I owned a rooted and over clocked moto Droid, a rooted and over clocked HTC incredible, a Droid x, and now the fascinate. Of those phones the incredible and the fascinate have been my favorite ones. The fascinate has a ton of potential to be a very powerful phone once a custom recovery and roms become available

The fact that many of them start themselves up constantly and can't be removed bothers some though.
