For folks holding out hope that Samsung would release the Galaxy Gear 2 at a more affordable price than the previous generation, you might be disappointed. The official price has been confirmed, and it is cheaper, but only by a whopping $4 bucks. The Galaxy Gear 2 will launch at a retail price of $295 on April 11th.
There is a small bit of bright news to go along with this. The much more intriguing wearable from Sammy, the Gear Fit, will be more affordable at just $197 retail. It probably would have been even better to see it about $30-40 less than this price, but it still might be worth checking out. The price for the Galaxy Gear 2 Neo wasn't released, but it's a good bet it will be somewhere between these two products at $250 or so.
With the new reveal of Android wear, and especially the impressive Moto 360 watch, it's hard to get excited about Samsung's Gear 2 at this price point. Of course, we don't really know how much the Moto smartwatch will be yet, so that could be a factor as well. What do you think of these prices?
