Yikes! Welp....I guess it was only a matter of time.
Seems like every new flagship that comes out the past few years, there's an exploding battery or fire involved. Before you know it we'll have warning labels engraved on our screens.

I use Qi fast charge at home and the S6 fast charge with a Type C connector by Samsung, no issues here, phone doesn't even get hot like the S6 did...

Haven't seen this with Motorola.

Moto isn't immune my friend....a simple Google search will show a number of instances.
Razr Maxx, Moto Z, Turbo and the list goes on.
I think it's safe to say all major manufacturers have dealt with this problem at one point or another, whether user error or otherwise...

I didn't say it didn't happen, just that I hadn't seen it. Lol.

I always use the chargers that come in the box! That's just an insane picture!

What about the cables? You don't have any car chargers?

I use the Verizon charger I got back with my S4, it works well, not fast, but as the Note battery is so much better than past phones, it's fine.

That's fine, until they go to type C on you.

I use a type C adapter on the charger cable, works great.

Until it doesn't... I'm not really feeling very good about USB C, and wondering what is really at the heart of these failures. I mean, nobody seems to be having problems like this with USB B, either in Mini USB or Micro USB. There must be some inherent flaw in the design, that is either the problem or opens them up to easier failure simply due to lack of failsafe design.

It needs to be investigated deeper by the USB standards developer and perhaps a revision of the standards needs to be made. If these were cars blowing up it would be a government mandated shutdown and recall.
