Samsung just took the wraps off their Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3. Both are mid-range devices and are meant to target specific audiences. Samsung described them as “ultra-slim” And “optimized for social networking.” It turns out they are the slimmest smartphones that Samsung has created at 6.7mm and 6.9mm respectively.

Here's a breakdown of specs for these devices:

Galaxy A5 -
  • 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display
  • 1.2GHz quad-core processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB storage
  • microSD support
  • 5-megapixel front-facing camera
  • 13-megapixel rear camera
  • 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC (for LTE versions), A-GPS, GLONASS
  • 2,300mAh battery
  • Android 4.4 KitKat
Galaxy A3 -
  • 4.5-inch qHD Super AMOLED (A3)
  • 1.2GHz quad-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB storage
  • microSD support
  • 5-megapixel front-facing camera
  • 8-megapixel rear camera
  • 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC (for LTE versions), A-GPS, GLONASS
  • 1,900mAh battery
  • Android 4.4 KitKat
they didn't yet reveal pricing and availability yet, but we will keep you informed. These seem like great devices for friends or family members who don't need the high-end flagship to be happy.

I'm just trying to looking at the differences between the two, so here:

Galaxy A5 -
  • 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display
  • 2GB RAM
  • 13-megapixel rear camera
  • 2,300mAh battery
Galaxy A3 -
  • 4.5-inch qHD Super AMOLED (A3)
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8-megapixel rear camera
  • 1,900mAh battery
I think these are going to be great, without really knowing much more than that about the devices. I could feel the ad targeting me, and others like me. I realize its just marketing, but Samsung is getting it right. If I wasn't already happy with my current device, I'd definitely take a gander at the Galaxy A.

Meh. I don't want thin. Thin is just less comfortable to hold. Wonder if they're going to bend...

Do these have SDCards? Other than the 16GB storage this is looking like Samsung has finally taken its head out of the sand.

Up to 64gb

Yeah, my bad. After looking at the diagrams it says so right there in the photo. Doh!

These have made the short list for backup phones while others are sent in for warranties.
