Right off the heals of the exploding Galaxy Note 7 it seems that Samsung has suffered no ill effect. They have just released their Q2 2017 financial earnings report and the results were record breaking! They were able to generate an operating profit of 12.7 billion with a net profit of $9.7 billion which is the best they have ever seen! Samsung will likely be able to beat Apple in operating profit as Apple has reported that they are on track to generate $10.6 billion. Samsung's DRAM and NAND memory chips made up $7.2 billion in operating profits while the mobile division generated $3.7 billion. Samsung does expect a dip in Q3 thanks to the marketing campaign for the Note 8.
