
An interesting design patent for a future Samsung smartphone just popped up. As you can see from the image above, Samsung's design utilizes some version of the YOUM flexible display tech in a unique fashion. In the current Galaxy Note Edge, Samsung has a slightly curved edge on one side of the phone. However, for this new patent, it is on both sides of the device.
Of course, that isn't what makes this different and worth investigation. We already knew that Sammy is planning a dual-edge device. What is unique about this design is that the curved edges are actually rounded and wrap all the way around to the back of the device. That's not all... the patent also describes a movable panel built into the device which can be raised and lowered.
It's tough to speculate on what this could be used for, but it is intriguing nonetheless. Could this be the new design for the rumored Galaxy S6 Edge, or is this just a patent for some future tech from Samsung? There are a few more images of the patent design in the thread below.
