Solved Saving Pic as Contact photo

TxDoc

Active Member
Previous to this Android update. I could search, find a pic, click on "view original" and one of the choices was save as contact photo.
Now, I can't do that, it offers me to share, but no choices to save as Contact photo.

Problem is, the old way, I could quickly find , save, evaluate, discard, and try another quickly.
Anyone know why this changed??
THANK YOU

might need to be a bit more specific for those who don't know your phone. which android update? when you are doing the search are you searching the phone or online?

I opened a pic using my Gallery app and have this option in the 3 dot menu. I also have the same option when opening the pic from the built in File Manager. What app are you using to open / view the pic?

I go to Google, search for example McDonalds, and choose IMAGES.. Tap on view original image, long press used to offer save a contact photo, no I'm only offered to copy or share. ..so I'm dealing with images I've searched for, like logos, not pics on my gallery.

You probably have to save it to your phone first. Try downloading and saving a copy locally, then you should be able to make it a Contact pic. I knew what phone you have, and what update...we just discussed the 7.1.1 Update yesterday. [emoji16][emoji106]

And as to why that changed between 7.0 and 7.1.1.....because Google knows best what we want & need. [emoji16]

if you do not have the option under share, then as previously mentioned, the only way you may be able to do it is to save it on the phone.

I can't save to a gallery. I can only COPY...copy the link to the pic, not the pic itself. And, SHARE, share the link, not the pic. So, they really messed my ability to customize future contacts by searching for as pic and immediately saving as a contact photo. [emoji107]

When you long press on a pic in Chrome, you don't have the Download option right there with Share?

It occurs with any pic or logo.

What I used to do..

1-Google search for a name like Exxon.
2-Find a single pic.
3-click the three dots on the upper right corner.
4-click on VIEW ORIGINAL
5- long press on that pic.
6- Save as Contact photo
Close and pic is established.

Now I am offered copy or share. Both only copy our share the link, not the .
