OK so I think I have everything I need to sbf just in case I need to. I downloaded rsd lite 4.9, the 247 mb sbf file and I think the drivers 4.7.1. Am I missing anything? I just need to transfer this to my pc. Oh yeah, I'm running windows not linux so I just have to make sure I'm administrator right? As soon as I know I have everything, it's time to start flashing roms

Cool. Thanks for the reassurance! I really want to flash my first rom. Thinking of liberty 2.0

If you've never flashed a rom why do you need to sbf?

Yea i guess i was just thinking maybe he thought he had to flash the sbf before flashing a rom but that is a good point

Hookbill is right. Just want to cover my butt.

Got ya well if you do end up running into problems or even just have questions feel free to send me a message and i'll help you out

Thanks. I'm still worried about making a nandroid backup let alone flashing a rom. I'm sure I'll get over the fear just like I did when I decided to root. I asked this question on another thread but is it rare to have problems with making a backup? If something happens pulling the battery and rebooting will start my phone up as usual or will it take me back to clockwork? I really appreciate the help. I love these forums and the more skilled i get the more I can give back to future noobs

Well if you run into any problems or have any questions feel free to send me a message i check the forums daily and will answer that day

Anyway i've never had any problems with backups i've heard of people who have messed up md5 sums occasionally but that's about it the backups are always great and like i said i don't think i've ever had a bad backup.

If you pull the battery during a backup or something like that it will boot normally backups don't touch your files they only back it up if you do pull the battery during a backup though it will obviously leave you with a broken backup what you won't be able to flash later.

That's the answer I was waiting for. I now feel safe to make a backup. The reason I want to do this is cause I want to mess with metamorph to change my notification bar. So if for some reason I mess up doing a custom theme, I just boot into clockwork and restore my backup and everything will be back to normal? Also I had a question on metamorph, but maybe I should start a new thread or pm you. Do you have experience using metamorph?

Yea the backups are basically mirrors they put everything back exactly as it was text messages call log theme all of your settings whether it be wifi or notification settings everything is restored it doesn't miss anything

As for metamorphs i have never once used them i myself prefer update zips and what not and when i did theme that is how i always did them i still only use update zips but that's just my preference

Cool. Could you please enlighten me on the process using update. Zip? What is that anyway? I saw the file on my sd card but wasn't sure what it was. I downloaded the watermarkd theme. Is that what I would use to install it?

Full themes almost always come in update.zips basically an update.zip is just a zip file with a special type of set up that is the META-INF folder but basically you stick it on your sdcard boot into recovery select install from zip find the zip and select install it is a special zip that just overwrites files like your framework-res.apk and what not it's just my preferred method

So the themes are fully equipped in the sense that once installed they change the notification bar and icons and stuff like that right? So metamorph just does these things individually? Do you know where to get some cool themes for the d2?
