Screwy Incredible

My daughter, who lives in Minneapolis, has been having trouble with her Incredible. I live in Oshkosh so I cannot get my hands on it.

THis is what she is reporting:

I haven't been to a store yet.
For a while it was saying 'insert sim card' if I ever wanted to open a picture from a text message.
Just two days ago i thought if i turned off the phone - I took out the battery and card and put it back in that it would reset itself.
but now everything is screwy.
google is NOT sinking to my phone! oh no google!
so there are NO contacts in my phone no emails nothing

Any thoughts?

She can try to remove her google account via contacts then readd it. If it doesn't work maybe the only solution is a factory reset.
