SD Card Directory Structure...

Hey all,

A few days ago I was on here and was able to easily find a couple threads regarding the directory structure on the SD Card. Today, no dice. Would someone please post a link to what I'm looking for, or post here the directory structure needed on the card for photos, music, ring tones, notifications, videos, etc...

Thanks for the reply. Just to make sure I understand you correctly and I don;t mess things up, the "sdcard" is an actually directory, and not just the root drive of the card itself?

Option "a" - f:/sdcard/media/photos/
Option "b" - sdcard/media/photos/

I am assuming you mean for it to be as in option "a", correct?

/sdcard is where the sdcard gets mounted on the phone. When you mount the SD card on a computer, it will come up as a drive letter or in another mount location.

/sdcard/media on the droid could be:
F:\media on a windows computer
/media/disk-1/media on a linux computer
or who knows what on a mac

So I guess the answer you're looking for is that it'll be option C, on the sdcard:
/
/media
/media/photos
etc

The specific folder arrangement doesn't matter. The folder names do. My Alarms, Notifications, Ringtones and Music folders are all directly under /Media and I can select them via the stock menu.

well others have reported that having /media/alarms /media/ringtones/ media/notifications as NOT showing up in certian ROMs yet media/audio/etc has worked with EVERY ROM, EVERY TIME...
