SD PROBLEMS. Help????

I have a motorola droid. i just got the 2.2 update this morning at 11:53 am.
and my phone now has problems mounting the sd card. it says its not present, or it just says its safe for removal. also, i tried mounting my moto droid to my pc and it wont mount either. is it bricked? does it still need to go through the 2.2 update process? should i contact verizon?
almost all my apps work, as does browser, calling, texting, etc.
my sd card is inside my phone, but when i go to my gallery or something it says there is no sd card present.

any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Did you ever remove your sd card at one point
if so open the battery cover and make sure it is in correctly.

Also try rebooting and see if that helps.

also go into setting

Scroll down to sdcard & phone storage

Make sure your sdcard is munted (if it says "unmount sd card" its mounted) if not mount the sdcard.

yes, i took it out multiple times. i turned my phone on once without the card in. and it says no card is present. when i put it back in, correctly. i turned my phone on and it just says "preparing sd card , checking for errors" then "sd card safe to remove, you can safely remove sd card".

when i go to my sd card &phone storage.
total space is unavailable
available space is unavailable
Mount the sd card i can click on: when i do it says the checking for errors thing i mentioned above.
and i can click on format the sd card, but i havent yet.

i dont have a card reader on my pc. so i cant back my files up.
