SD slot not working.

Hello, I have Moto Droid (orig). I rooted it while back and everything was fine. but now the SD card slot is not working. It happened over night while charging the phone. Now in Notifications is says
"Damaged SD card" "SD card damaged. You may have to reformat it."
I tried using new card and it keeps saying the same thing.

I can't take it to Verizon store because I rooted it and i can not unroot it since the SD card slot is not working.

Any ideas on what I can try or do?

Please Help.

Thank you

First thing I would do is find another Droid owner and see if my SD card itself got corrupted by popping my SD card into it and checking. Or - head to a computer store and buy the adapter that lets you plug your SD card into your computer via some source on your computer ( slot or usb...) and see that way if your SD card is damaged. You might be able to fix it even if you lose all your data. At least it would be just the SD card and not the entire phone. If that SD card is good then yeah - it's within the hardware of the Droid and in famous words: "Houston, you've got a problem"

I tried all that. It's not the SD card. because it worked fine in my friends' droid. so i'm guessing i'm S-O-L now.

Does anyone know if i Add the phone insurance for Verizon now would they replace it for me?

thank you.

Using RSDLite to flash the SBF file puts the phone back to "out of the box" condition; and doesn't require an SD card at all.

also does anyone else know how i can short out the main board on it so it becomes non operational.. that way they won't be able to tell I had it Rooted.
If you're going to commit insurance fraud then don't post about it on a public forum. :icon_rolleyes:

The SD slot failure is a warranty issue (if warranty has not expired) not an insurance issue.

Are you not under warranty? I bought my droid 4th day it came out and my original warranty JUST expired (living off of the 3 month warranties provided by certified like new devices (CLND) - crappy ones that needed multiple replacements). It's a 12 month warranty. Just call customer service (*611 or 800-922-0204), tell them you're having problems with your phone and that the SD card is normal. They have a low threshold to just send you out a CLND. They ship it, put your SD card, battery into CLND and ship your phone back to them, rooted and all. I feel like they just throw it into a pile, into the garbage, or they just wipe, reflash, and reinstall the software without looking at what's on the phone. You should have no problems. If you take it into the verizon store, the rep will try to reproduce the problem and will see that you're rooted and will not let you get the CLND. Hope this helps.
