SDK's, ADB's and other nonsensical letters

I learned the other day how to take screen captures as well as push a new boot animation using the SDK that you download from Google. I was wondering what else can be done using SDK for a non-root such as myself. It seems like it could be exploited a little more to help customize my DROID without the fear of losing the warranty (my biggest reason I haven't rooted).

Well, apps can be made, you can copy things from your phone to computer, and you can install apps.
