SE Xperia neo v Root

i'm new here
i've a problem and i'd like u to help me
well, i havve xperia neo v, and i bought on the go cable
then i discovered that i'll not be able to use it untill i root my phone
actually i dont know what does root mean or how to root it
so i was asking for ur help
keep in ur mind that i'm not proffissionel
