It seems like Samsung has been chasing a ton of security bugs on their devices lately. From the Galaxy S3 to the Galaxy Note we have seen several different security holes they have had to patch over the past 6 months or so. Now there is a new one for the Galaxy Note 2. A lock screen bypass bug has been found on the Android 4.1.2 version of the Galaxy Note 2. This one abuses a security hole while making an Emergency call from the lockscreen. You can see it demonstrated in the video above.

Luckily, Samsung is fully aware of the problem and have indicted they will be forthcoming with a fix just as soon as possible.

This is really only an issue if you still allow the Play Store to add a shortcut for every downloaded app to your home screen by default. Who does that!?

On a side note...does the Note 2 by default have the ripple effect on the home screen? The S3 only has it AFAIK on the lock screen. Wonder if that could be ported to AOSP or something.

You don't need the auto shortcut, you can just repeat what he did and open the app from the google play store after it's downloaded.
